You would think that because this engagement session is that of my brother and future sister-in-law, that I’d have some big sweeping story to tell, filled with tales of our childhood, and topped off with a little sibling prodding. But I don’t feel ready to do that yet. I think I’ll save it for the wedding.
For now, all I want to do is share the images I took of them early one morning when I was in town for one of those less-than-24-hour trips. In fact, I drove back to Virginia just after we finished. Ronnie was adamant on having their engagement photos taken in this park in Philadelphia – he shoots there often and quite enjoys it. So early one Saturday morning, the kids (that’s what I call them, despite only being three years older than my brother) picked me up from my parent’s house and to Philly we ventured. We were lucky enough to catch the tail end of the autumn color on this particular weekend, and the overcast, drizzly skies actually helped make the colors pop. Those reds and oranges are not a product of post processing, my friends. All Mother Nature.
The three of us braved the city smells and the intermittent rain while wandering around the grounds of Carpenter’s Hall. There was kissing and hand holding and leaf-stomping (them, them, and me, respectively), but I think the highlight of the morning was when Melissa spotted a big puffball of a dog named Mai Tai, who joined us for a few minutes. She’s a chow chow, and the softest fluffernutter in the universe. Like, if it wasn’t weird, her fur would make amazingly soft yarn, and I would use it to knit a blanket to snuggle up in all winter long. But that would be weird, so I had to settle for petting and taking her picture.
And because we’re siblings, here are a few outtakes for s&gs:
Love you guys! Can’t wait for the wedding next year, and on behalf of Jon and the rest of the family, thank you for deciding to get married in St. Lucia instead of New Jersey. 😉
I've pulled together my favorite and most-used art supplies + tools to make the process easy for you!
I make whimsical art for color-lovers and California dreamers. I'm based in Virginia, outside of Washington, D.C. where there are most decidedly no palm trees in sight.
