Backyard weddings are my favorite. Whether they take place in the couple’s backyard, or that of a close family member, there’s something so personal and intimate about them, no matter how large.
Malory and Frankie held their wedding in their south Jersey backyard on June 11th. After 10 months of laboring together bushwhacking plants, removing trees, and landscaping everything else, the yard was ready and perfect for their June wedding.
No, but when I say perfect, I actually mean perfect. Picture this: you are a guest walking up the driveway and see a gigantic tent with dinner tables off to the left. To the right, a table with mason jars for each guest to use for their chosen libation, followed by the guestbook table, then a wagon (!!) for gifts. Speaking of the guestbook, not only was there an actual book for guests to sign, but they also had a large wood plank which will be sealed and become a swing for their backyard. I mean SERIOUSLY?! #guestbookgoals
A weathered door acted as a seating chart, and old wooden stepstools were turned into a display for photos of the couple. Their engagement photos were printed and wrapped around a tree just by the dance floor. Honestly you guys, the decor at this wedding was so well thought out, I kept walking around to find what each nook and cranny would have in store. Mal and Frankie did an incredible job on creating their dream wedding, and what a dreamy day it was.
The photos really speak for themselves, but here are my top five parts of Mal + Frankie’s wedding:
Mal + Frankie, thank you SO much for having me there to photograph your wedding day! Mal’s been a great friend to my brother, and she’s found herself a sweet guy in Frankie. Enjoy the rest of your honeymoon! MWAH!
A HUGE thanks to my second shooter for the day, Andrew (because Ronnie was a guest at this wedding, so he had the day off!). Andrew hustled along with me and shot some of the images posted above. Also, he made a great drink-holder for the bride:

I make whimsical art for color-lovers and California dreamers. I'm based in Virginia, outside of Washington, D.C. where there are most decidedly no palm trees in sight.
