I'm a 30-something photographer and artist with a love of color and a refusal to act my age.

Say hi to your effervescent Peter Pan

I've only ever had three things I wanted to be when I grew up: an artist, a meteorologist, and a photographer. A Bachelor's degree in Meteorology + 8 years into a photography business later, and I'm finally on my way to making my artist dreams come true.

I used to own a photography business wherein I worked with makers and small businesses to provide kickass headshots, product, and lifestyle images. The rest of my days are spent creating - whether it's knitting another pom pom hat, or painting watercolor florals, my hands are always busy making.

While I love paints and pencils, my go-to medium for illustrating and lettering work is the Procreate app on an iPad Pro.

Hi, I'm Alicia – a grown up child who makes art!

I believe in whimsy, wonder and that the journey should be just as fun – if not more! – than the destination.

That said, my bright-eyed dreams of being a California girl inspire my art from every angle. As a professional photographer I can't bring palm trees and warm sunsets to Virginia in January, but I can let those things play a role in my artwork.

I tend to favor a mix of pastel and bright colors reminiscent of southern California and the 1960s, wildflowers that might have been found in a hippie's flower crown, and lettering that has a little bit of fun to keep it whimsical.

In reality, I live hours from the ocean and my skin is pretty damn pale.

In my head, I'm a coastal girl with salty hair and sun-kissed skin.

Any given piece may draw inspiration from my favorite subjects: A floral line drawing might surround a quote from a 1960s song that I love. A Christmas lettering piece may have colors inspired by sunny California.

That said, I also love to mix it up. I never know when something totally unrelated to my favorite styles will inspire me to create something new and fresh.

My core belief?
Life is too short to be boring. Make it fun + bring on the color.

The Wonder Years: I've compiled a playlist of music that has been featured on the show. SO. SO. GOOD.

90s Pop Summer: Just reliving my adolescence with this one.

Beatz: (Mostly) Instrumental tunes with addicting beats for those days when I can't be distracted by singing along.

Hamilton Soundtrack: Okay, not a playlist per se, but this was my most listened to album in 2019, 2020, and 2021 so...

When I'm not spinning vintage vinyl while I cook dinner, I'm creating art while jamming to my favorite curated Spotify playlists.

Think I'm kind of cool in a nerdy, grown-ass child sort of way?
