When I first met Bethany and Ed, I was instructed to “look for the short brunette gal and the tall bald guy with tattooed legs.” They were easy to spot and after greeting them, right away I could sense how terrific these two were. They spoke of their relationship with joy, and of their wedding with excitement. And honestly, any couple who includes their dogs in their wedding is awesome in my book.
About a month prior to the wedding, I met up with the couple at their venue, Weatherlea Farm, for the final walk-through. We talked about the ceremony, and the reception, and the getting ready, and finally got to tromp through the barn to visit the sheep and llamas. Pamela told us that one of the sheep was so pregnant, she was due any day now.
Any day indeed: later that afternoon she gave birth to two lambs – a boy and a girl that they named Bethany and Ed.
The threat of thunderstorms loomed all afternoon on May 30th. Summer had seemingly come early to northern Virginia, keeping the air thick and the bugs rampant. But no matter – Bethany and Ed were by far the two most laid back people about to be married that I’d ever seen.Potential thunderstorms? Eh. Bugs and humid air? Forget about it! Relaxing in their on-site cottage with their two dogs, their take on wedding prep was casual for sure. These two lovebirds were all about enjoying their wedding day with their closest friends and family, who had traveled from Philadelphia and New Orleans to celebrate with them.
And that, my friends, is what a wedding celebration is all about.
