The newest Love Knot couple, David and Lori, are engaged and planning a destination wedding in Mexico. They are also gorgeous and so obviously in love. If I’d ever wondered what it was like to photograph models, I’d wonder no more.
In fact, Lori has done some modeling before. Her fiancé David seems to have learned from her, because he nailed the whole ‘Brad Pitt smoldering look’ thing. These two really know how to work the camera.
We met up in Lovettsville, VA on a pleasant Sunday afternoon around lunchtime. Remember that whole post I made about working with the lighting first? This photo shoot is proof that as long as there is open shade, you can photograph at any time of the day. Overhead midday sun shall not defeat Love Knot Photo.
There was no real location plan in place, which makes things more fun, and luckily David and Lori were totally down with having some fun. Sometimes just picking a spot to meet and having no other agenda can make for the best spontaneous locations. We strolled down Pennsylvania Ave, a lovely little street less than a quarter mile in length – a far cry from the Pennsylvania Ave just 55 miles to the East. Old stone buildings and large, shady trees made the perfect setting to begin our session. A big thanks to the homeowner who allowed us to hang in their yard for a bit!
We then headed to George’s Mill Farm Bed & Breakfast and took advantage of the lovely shaded gardens and nearly 150 year old stone farmhouse on the property. Finally, as David and Lori are huge baseball/Nats fans, we finished our session on a baseball field and their dog Harper made her photographic debut of the day.
Thanks to David and Lori for a great photo session. You guys were fun to spend part of the afternoon with!

I make whimsical art for color-lovers and California dreamers. I'm based in Virginia, outside of Washington, D.C. where there are most decidedly no palm trees in sight.
