REAL TALK.
Be honest: how often do you step in front of the camera?
Once a month? Once a year? Not since you were 12?
Now be even more honest: How often do you feel confident when you step in front of the camera?
Many women entrepreneurs are the kind of people who work all day in pajamas and set aside little time for self care. We only wear makeup or do our hair when we’re heading out to a business event or client meeting. We juggle our business, housework, and tending to our families daily, leaving little time for ourselves. It’s easy to feel like we’ve let ourselves go as we continue to put our businesses, our families – anyone else – first.
While I believe that every woman is beautiful in their bare skin, working long hours or raising children (or both!) leave many of us feeling – and looking – worn and tired. As someone who keeps an au naturel face most of the time, I believe with all of my heart that all women are gorgeous in their own bare skin. But I will also admit freely that when I am feeling tired and worn down, a little bit of makeup helps make me look awake, alert, and boosts my confidence.
I Feel Pretty is an event for women like you and me. It’s time set aside for just you, as you’re doted upon by a couple of professionals who understand the feeling of being overwhelmed by life and work. You’ll be pampered for a few hours as we serve you wine, professionally do your hair and makeup, and give you an entire photo session to be yourself. The goal is to give you scheduled time to take a break and let someone else take care of you for a bit. And when you’re looking fresh-faced and have hair that’s actually styled, you get to play model in front of the camera.
Okay, so being the subject of a photo shoot doesn’t come easily to many women. But as an entrepreneur, you know that having photographs of yourself for your blog, website, and social media is so important, as it humanizes you to your readers and makes them feel connected to you as a person. The benefit of having a professional style your hair and give you a natural makeup look prior to having your photo taken is that it’s a major confidence booster, and will make your time in front of the camera that much easier.
And then we play – truly play – in your own private photo session. Don’t worry about being unsure of how to pose or what to do with your hands; that’s what I’m there for. I’ll walk you through editorial-like poses (the ones you look at and say ‘holy shit! that’s ME?!’); standard ‘look at the camera’ images (the ones you’ll use for headshots and for perching on your partner’s desk in a cute little frame); and then encourage you to bring out your personality, whether that means laying out a quilt to read a book, or running barefoot through tall grasses (these are the ones that you’ll love the most and post to Instagram with a quote about finally being carefree and happy). The key word here is carefree: that feeling you had when you were a child and had zero responsibility outside of cleaning your room.
After your shoot, we’ll send you off with a treat and in a few days time, you’ll receive a full gallery of your images and a private PIN code to download.
The event takes place on August 13th (location will be emailed to you beforehand, but know it’ll be in Loudoun County, VA). Tickets aren’t on sale yet, but you can get all the information you need over on this page right now. (Psst! You can get first dibs at tickets and a time slot by entering your email here and selecting “styled portraits” as the event you’re interested in.)
By the way… the woman in these photos – the lovely Stefanie – is not a model. She’s a wife and mother who works and is pursuing her English degree. I know her through Finch Sewing Studio where she knits, sews, and writes/photographs for their blog. After Liz worked her magic on Stefanie’s hair and makeup, the two of us went out into the July heat and made these gorgeous images.
If you’re interested in taking part of I Feel Pretty, please visit the information page here for all of the details on what you get. The entire shoot is a $600+ value, but you get it for $450. If you’ve got any questions, please let me know by emailing contact@thealiciabruce.com. Hope to see you there!
