You may or may not know this about me, but I graduated college with a degree in meteorology. So yeah, you could say that I love weather. (You could also say that I’m a nerd, and you’d be right.)
Most brides, however, probably wouldn’t say they love weather like I do. But about three weeks before their wedding day, nearly every bride I know is glued to weather.com scoping out the long-term forecasts hoping for high pressure and sunshine on their wedding day.
But since this is the East Coast and not Southern California, it’s pretty likely that many of you will be dealing with pre-wedding rain jitters. So we’ve put together a short list of ways you can make the potential for rain on your wedding day something to embrace, not fear.
1// Scope out Pinterest. As usual, Pinterest is a treasure trove for rainy wedding day photo inspiration. Make yourself feel better by creating a Pinterest board specifically for rainy day photos that you love. Don’t forget to share it with us!
2// Get prepared. Umbrellas. Wellies. Cardigans. You’re going to want to be ready to face the elements in order to get some great shots in the rain while still keeping relatively dry. And because rainy days tend to be gloomy and gray, the more colorful the accessories, the better (except for umbrellas – we highly suggest clear). And don’t forget – you can return whatever you don’t end up using!
3// Be fearless. We know, you paid a lot of money for your wedding dress, your stylist spent over an hour on your hair, and your makeup isn’t waterproof. But is that going to keep you from (maybe literally) dancing in the rain? Some of our favorite photos came as a result of brides who were willing to hike up their dress, slip on their wellies, and strut outside under the pouring rain in order to get their wedding photos. And honestly, are you really ever going to wear that dress again? Live it up and enjoy your day!
