I think in a former life I was a hippie. I just love the whole granola, yoga, spiritual, flowy dress, peace and love, jam band, flower crown sort of vibe. Even though I live my life as a sort of awkward nerd type, deep down I think I’ve got a little of that boho vibe inside of me. It’s deep, deep down. Look past the glasses and dorky personality, people. It’s there!
Maggie and Vinny are the chill boho couple of my photography dreams. Maggie is a knitter, and Vinny an avid landscape photographer. Together, they travel and go to music festivals, living in Virginia with their adorable doggo.
Their engagement session was last summer, but you know, why blog it then when I can wait a year and blog it now? 😉 #procrastination
We met up at Bear’s Den Overlook in Bluemont, VA. The plan was to begin with a casual vibe as we explored the trails, and then move into a relaxed boho look to end the evening. I even made Maggie a flower crown to wear which looked SO GOOD with her flowy white dress. We kept the props to a minimum in order to just let them be themselves as we walked the trails and hopped over the rocks at Bear’s Den. These two are adorable comfortable showing affection in front of the camera, so at some points I just let them interact while I kept a longer lens on the camera to give them a little room. Finally, the sun set and we wrapped up the session.
Take a look and enjoy this relaxed boho engagement session in Bluemont, VA.
You can find Maggie online at TheBrokenCactus.com and on Instagram as @thebrokencactus. Vinny posts his work on his portfolio site here.

I make whimsical art for color-lovers and California dreamers. I'm based in Virginia, outside of Washington, D.C. where there are most decidedly no palm trees in sight.
