Wormsloe Plantation in Savannah, Georgia, is gorgeous.
Okay, well I don’t know about the rest of the property, but I can say for a fact that the driveway leading up to it certainly is gorgeous. It’s obvious why so many engagement and portrait sessions in Savannah feature this long, shady lane.
On last moth’s visit to Savannah, we stopped here on our way out of town, so the visit was short. After taking portraits of my friends and doing a little ‘Run, Forrest, run!‘ down the path (because I am a dork), I headed back to the car. But I saw this guy and girl leave their car and try taking a selfie, but no selfie is really going to do this scene justice. So we did that that thing where we caught one another’s attention and simultaneously they were asking if I could snap a photo just as I was offering to snap a photo, and we came to this mutual agreement all in the span of like, four seconds.
I did the “Okay, smile! And one more…” iPhone picture for strangers thing and just about turned back toward the car when I had this thought come to me. Maybe I could ask to take a few portraits of them? So I did. It went something like “Okay here’s your phone. Now my turn with my camera – errr, I’m not a creep, I’m a professional photographer. Maybe I should have said that first?”
Lucky for me, they were totally cool and jumped at the idea of getting a couple of professional photos on their trip to Savannah from NYC. Of course, it wouldn’t be me if I wasn’t completely awkward, so I did have them holding hands before they told me they weren’t a couple, they were BFFs. I felt like a moron, but again, they were totally chill about it. I love these two!
To Lauren and Daniel, I’m so happy our paths crossed on that morning in Savannah. Thank you for being super rad models for our random five minute photo shoot! MWAH!
